Terms of Use

These terms govern use of Sherwood Residents Directory. By using the service, you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the service or any result reached through it.

1. Nature of the Service

Sherwood Residents Directory is an independently operated reference to public-record offices, indexes, portals, and historical research channels in Sherwood, Washington County, and Oregon. It does not host government records and has no affiliation with a custodian, court, agency, or library.

2. Permitted Use

Use the service only for lawful purposes. You may not use the service or information reached through it to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm a person.
  • Locate a person protected by a restraining or protective order.
  • Commit identity theft, fraud, or another unlawful act.
  • Make a decision regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
  • Scrape, copy, or republish the service’s content at scale.
  • Interfere with its operation or security.

3. Consumer Reporting Notice

We are not a consumer reporting agency as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. § 1681 et seq. Nothing here, and nothing returned by a linked search service, is a consumer report. It may not be used for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another purpose regulated by that law.

4. External Resources

Government portals, archives, libraries, and third-party search providers have their own terms and privacy practices. We do not control their content, availability, pricing, data use, or search results.

5. No Warranty

The service is provided as is and as available. We make no promise that any page, source, fee, office contact, portal, or record description is complete, current, accurate, or available when you visit.

6. Liability Limits

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or other damages arising from use of the service or a linked resource, including a decision made from an accessed record.

7. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the service operators from a claim, demand, or reasonable attorney fee arising from your misuse of the service or violation of these terms.

8. Intellectual Property

Original text, design, logo, and layout are protected by copyright. You may link to pages and quote short excerpts with attribution. Republishing full pages or systematically copying content is not permitted.

9. Changes to Terms

We may revise these terms by posting an updated version here. Continued use after a posted change is acceptance of the new terms.

10. Restricting Access

We may suspend, block, or limit access for a user who violates these terms or abuses the service, at our discretion and without prior notice.

11. Oregon Law

Oregon law governs these terms, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Public-record access in Oregon is governed by the Oregon Public Records Law, ORS 192.311-192.478; that law concerns existing nonexempt records held by public bodies and does not control this private reference service.

12. Severability

If a court finds a term unenforceable, the remaining terms remain in effect.

13. Questions
